The photos taken of Melbourne during 2020's COVID pandemic will be part of our history when the world eventually looks back. The photos capture a city and the spirit of it's people bravely carving out a new normal during these unprecedented times. For a photographer, it's an opportunity to catalogue the heartbreak of busy streets and suburbs which are now dark and empty during lockdown. Our silent city on a Friday nights with no theatres, bars or buskers. Saturday afternoons with no footy or live sport. The Melbourne Cup horses run before empty stands, and masked soldiers stand at the Shrine on Remembrance Day.  A strange time none of us have seen before and which needs to be captured for posterity.
